Standards & interoperability

A key feature of the changes that are happening in school organisation and in learning is the growth of collaboration and sharing, of all kinds. For this to happen effectively in digital environments standards to enable interoperability are essential. A second reason interoperability and standards are required is to enable innovation. If innovative functionality from other suppliers cannot be added into ICT systems then it will not be possible to adapt them to suit the changing educational and learning need.
